Why Me

In Garo Hills, Nokseng and His family were killed by the village people for accepting Jesus Christ. This morning, I don’t know what kind of things were going on with you? what kind of problems you are in, some of you might be having facing financial issue relationship issue and many more. We pray for blessings and for protection but still why there is still calamities, sleepless night. If He is the loving God, why does He allow suffering, why?
It was in the year of 2016 mid night during the winter season, our house was attack by the terrorist, I thought that it will be last night for me, we do the evening worship and we pray to protect us and the bible plainly states that in 1 John 4:8 “God is Love” if God is love why terrorist attack, why sleepless night, why trouble and today you might be having the same question like me.
Throughout history, suffering has been part of human existence. Wars, natural disaster, many more. March 10 2018, 16 members of the SDA church in Rwanda were killed by lightning in the church during the divine services. Where is God? When we are in need, sometimes we ask the question, Does God really exist and the prophet Habakkuk had the similar question in the Habakkuk 1;1-4.
Our first parents Adam and eve live in a beautiful perfect place without any stain of sin. P G Gaiphun mention this statement on His sermon “Adam and Eve decided to eat the fruit ignoring millions of them this simple act of disobedience eating the fruit change the entire destiny of Men”. And I do Understand that they except the Lucifer offer and ignore the father instruction from that moment, everything changed and I believe that owing to “simple act of disobedience” Sin and suffering had entered the world.
2022 February 20, I barely survived on that day, I got a car crash I stayed in hospital for 2 months, surgeries, blood loss, can’t walk, barely can take breath. In 2019, I started a business with my friends. At first, everything went well. The first six months were smooth. But then, things took a turn. Started as a dream became a nightmare.
I kept the Sabbath, but my friends did not. They lived their lives indulging in things I chose to avoid, drinking, partying, and chasing worldly pleasures. Yet, they were successful. They
were enjoying life, and making money, while I faced failure after failure. I lost over 9 lakhs, a huge amount for me. In 2023, I lost even more, another 4 lakhs. Ellen White reminds us in the book of Great Controversy, “Satan would do anything to separate us from God”.
One of the most righteous men in the bible was attacked directly by Satan Job story illustrates how even through God created the world a beautiful paradise, Satan seeks to destroy it through sin. We can expect suffering to happen either by our own or others. Many blame God for the bad things happen.
Today some of you might be righteous and some of you might be faithful. But still facing difficulties in life, just remember, it is Satan goal to cause you and me to feel hopeless when we suffer. The bible plainly states that, Satan is the father of all the evil and He will do anything, to separate us from Jesus but, God promises that sin, evil and suffering will end. Psalm 30:5 ‘weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
I believe that suffering can brings us closer to God, Psalm 119:67,71 “Before I was afflicted, I went astray but now I keep your word ... The suffering I went through was good for me, so I could think about what you have stipulated.’’ He can relieve our sorrow and suffering and replace it with lasting joy, I went through lots of difficulties in life but I can proudly say that God is always with me, learning to trust God in difficulties and most challenging times is an important part of developing Christian character, bible says ‘’ all things work together for good to those who love God” Romans 8:28.
The Bible reveals that Satan is the root cause of suffering. He is the deceiver, the accuser and the destroyer and Satan try to destroy the Heaven, Heaven was cleansed when Satan was cast out from Heaven, so if we want to live without any difficulties Satan has to cast out from this universe.
While Jesus was on the cross, He himself cried “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” yet God had not abandoned Him but through His suffering salvation came. Psalm 119:71 it says that God sometimes allows pain to bring us closer to Him.
Recently, whole night I fight with my grandma, but she was dead long time ago, she came to me and she started to fight with me, I was scared and I thought she is going to kill me.
God was present with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace. God does not stand far away. He enters our suffering; He weeps with us (John 11:35). He carries us when we are weak (Isaiah 41:10). Revelation 21:4 gives us a beautiful promise. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or crying nor pain”. Suffering is temporary, God eternal kingdom will be free from pain and sorrow.
God is always with us, in pain, suffering and everywhere “He never leaves us” Let us not turn away from Him in our pain but rather let’s run to Him for He alone is our refuge and strength.
